About Tricia Cates

Advice for New Home Buyers

Get pre-approved with an experienced lender makes you feel welcome and comfortable asking questions and can meet you where you’re at in learning about the home purchase and financing process. It’s my hope that home buyers feel empowered to make the best decisions for their personal home loan goals because they’ve built a foundation of understanding through the loan process with me.

What is your motto or personal mantra?

The 5 P’s is a good one… Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance. Also, hope for the best. Plan for the worst.

What is your favorite sports team?

Rockhurst Women’s Soccer (because my daughter plays for them. 😊)

What is something that people would be surprised if they knew about you?

I’m fairly good at fixing things around the house – repair and/or construction type stuff like appliance repair, building a shower, installing new electrical items, replacing the furnace motor, etc.

What’s your alma mater?

Drury University in Springfield, MO

What is on your bucket list?

Owning and living on a small ranch/farm.

What aspect of your job are you most passionate about?

Helping people improve their lifestyle through homeownership and/or improved financial health.

Where did you grow up?

I’m still growing up I think 😊 but I was born in Oklahoma City and raised in Oklahoma and East Texas.

What are some of your hobbies?

Playing games like cards or dominos, working on my lawn and garden, playing with my 3 dogs (Chesapeake Bay Retrievers), and fishing.

Before working at nbkc, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

Hmmm… I’ve done a lot of things that are quite different than being a mortgage lender. I’d say the most fun job was financing, selling and buying cars for my friend’s used car dealership. The most interesting job was as a Health Educator delivering health seminars in person and online all over the US on topics such as stress management, healthy eating and fitness training.
